Shockart project was born in 1999 thanks to Vernice a well known cultural association. Initially born as section of Vernice site (www.vernice.it) has become a dedicated domain, www.shockart.net which aim is to be recognized as a worldwide reference able to spread and to increase the value of webart and digital art.The digital support is the place where digital art is created, develops itself and is shown to its public without the need of being printed or to be reproduced in any other way. Monitors, computers, networks are no longer just to be considered media but also the platforms thanks to which the digital opera is brought to its public remaining faithful to itself. The guideline of Shockart is then to give added value to digital arts, a form of expression able to reach a big audience without losing the original impact, the original purity. "Shockart.net" is the web container for the web art where digital operas coming from all over the world are selected by the Association and put in the web "Gallery". On the 10th of April a selection of 16 operas is presented for the first time "Off Line"; it represents a news for Shockart.net. The response of public and critics of this initiative turned out to be very positive as many other web sites linked themself to Shockart.net pointing it as reference for the digital art on web. The up-to-date "Gallery" 's structure of the site has been modified dividing it into "Esposizioni" and "Progetti" allowing the viewer to admire both the original opera as well as the ambientazione created by Shockart.net for the exhibition

Il progetto Shockart nasce nel 1999 per iniziativa dell'Associazione culturale Vernice. Nato inizialmente come sezione del sito di Vernice www.vernice.it, si sviluppa poi con un dominio dedicato: www.shockart.net con l'idea di creare il primo riferimento culturale per la valorizzazione e la divulgazione dell'arte digitale e della web art.L'arte digitale nasce, si sviluppa e viene presentata interamente su supporto digitale, il supporto dove è stata creata, dando la possibilità al fruitore di ammirare l'opera originale senza necessità di ricorrere a stampe o riproduzioni su materiali tradizionali. Monitor, computer e reti intesi quindi non come semplici media, bensì come supporto unico e originario dell'opera digitale, che rimane fedele a se stessa. Il principio guida di Shockart è dunque la valorizzazione di questa inalienabile autenticità dell'arte digitale, capace di raggiungere un pubblico vastissimo, senza perdere la nitidezza e l'impatto comunicativo dell'opera originale. Su questa linea nasce Shockart.net, il sito contenitore per la Web Art che, anche attraverso i canali dell'Associazione, seleziona opere digitali realizzate da artisti di tutto il mondo per esporle nella "Gallery". Ma Shockart.net non vuole rimanere solo On line, il 10 aprile del 2000 una selezione di 16 opere è presentata al pubblico per la prima volta Off Line. L'iniziativa suscita un'eco positiva anche da parte della critica ed è segnalata da più voci in rete come nuovo riferimento per la web art. L'attuale struttura della "Gallery" é organizzata per Esposizioni e Progetti realizzati dando la possibilità al fruitore di ammirare non solo le opere originali esposte nell'iniziativa Off line ma anche l'ambientazione creata da Shockart.net per l'esposizione.

Shockart.net porta al PEAM 2005 una selezione di quadri digitali che poterbbero gratuitamente decorare le nostre case, tutti ovviamente reperibili su internet. "net paintings" mira a dare visibilità a quella forma di web_art più facile cioè non interattiva che può sia avvicinare più facilmente i profani ma che allo stesso tempo potrebbe facilmente entrare a casa dei più appassionati.

The exhibition and the congress Artecnologies, that took place in Castel Sant'Angelo in Rome and to which Shockart was invited to take part, embodies how strong and inevitable today has become the need of investigating the relationship between art and new media. Taking, always more as a consolitated assertion, the fact that this conjunction, by giving several ways of mixing languages (video, photography, sound, drawing, etc.), conferes to the expression a natural development of possibilities, of paths and an unlimitated expansion of the message.We already knew it, but maybe even somebody else is going to get conviced about how quickly the global approach to reality and to visual art change, how real is the need of finding new codes to unzip, of spending time to indagate and discover the differences among thousand of similar voices, or simply how natural is to communicate by short and synthetized deeds.

Shockart.net will present a selectioned review of web_Art works created by several international artists, almost already wellknown and apprechiated and who have already taken part to important web_Art exhibitions throught Europe (Bienal de Valencia - Valencia, Convento del Carmen; Vector Lounge - Paris, Centre George Pompidou; Web Wizards: Designers Who Define The Web - London, Design Museum Exhibition). This great task follows the partecipation of Shockart.net, as ideator and curator of the web_Art section, at the first Valencia Biennial of the Art (Spain, summer 2001 - www.shockart.net/bienaldevalencia/flash.htm). The new selection has been realized with the will of presenting some of the most interesting aspects and products of non-commercial web_design today. Each work that will be shown at shockart@flashforward will be integrated into an innovative AI engine which guides the user trought the different artworks. This is based upon an experimental technology that Shockart.net is developing in collaboration with the Engineering Faculty of the University of Study of Sannio (Italy). The AI interface technology is a new way to help the user surfing the Internet, matching the opportunities offered by CODING, ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE and ADVANCED COMMUNICATION.

On the 13th of June 2001 there was the great opening of Valencia Art Biennial Exhibition. A section of this event, called "El Mundo Nuevo" ("The New World") was entirely dedicated to the contemporary culture and to the new languages by means of which, at present, the creativity finds expression and on which it settles its revolutionary communication codes. It's a section that runs through the virtual, cared by KwArt (www.kwart.com) the Art gate of Kataweb, that has entrusted Shockart.net with the task of picking out new artists operating into the web. Among them, thirty was selected by KwArt and Shockart.net and presented in Valencia in an area, called "El Mundo Nuevo", entirely dedicated to them besides the Biennial and KwArt sites. The operation has already been set up by Shockart.net, who's spotting works aiming at spreading and informing about the present energy that runs across, still in a too silent way, data communication channels, claiming the communicative effectiveness of artistic expressions in continuous evolution whose prerogative is that of transmitting a thought without ever looking away from the most innovative formal and structural solutions. KwArt and Shockart.net propose themselves as vehicles of these languages.

A Special Event @ Magazzini Generali in Milan. The presentation of selected art-works was based on 5 video projectors and 15 large monitors distributed all over the open space of the well known ex-industrial area: with the Video power in the hands of B_Muvis, VJ of the Bluecheese Crew, the 20 Operas presented were then the absolute protagonist. After 01.00 just the audio of the Operas were to be substituted by the astonishing sound of selectedDjs:Lele Sacchi, Andrea Gemolotto, Luca Greppi and Enrico Lo Gallo.MAGAZZINI GENERALI - Via Pietrasanta 14 Milan.

On the occasion of Smau2000, Italian New Technologies Exhibition, held in Milan from 19th to 23rd of October, KwArt (Kataweb section entirely dedicated to Art) presented a review of web-art works edited by Shockart. Properly designed for SMAU Exhibition event, KwArtsmau2000 showed a selection of 20 web-art works , presented to the guests with an unusual graphical interface which will guide the viewer along the gallery's exploration through a sensorial path, inspired by the basic elements Water and Fire. Every element drives the visitors in an exiting journey of imagines, sounds and words which prelude the discovery of the art-works projects.

The KwArtsmau2000 event of SMAU, is previewed with the co-operation of NXT + e'lab'000 @ Blue Cheese in Rome - www.bluecheese.it. Starting at 21.00 through 24.00, in large size format the selected art-works were displayed while a live performer assumed the task to simulate different navigations paths, investigating with the mouse through the gallery and the art-works interactive spaces. After 24.00 web art imagines and animations were to form the background of the DJ consoles animated by RENNIE PILGREM, THE KING OF NU-SKOOL. Thanks to his "pedigree" (he was member of the legendary Rhythm Section during the London's parties Golden Age), Rennie Pilgrem is at present one of the most quoted artist in UK and not only. He was also one of the maker of "Friction", the party which literally CREATED the "NU-SKOOL" scene. To be even more precise it was Rennie himself, together with his "Friction" buddies, to coin the definition "NU-SKOOL" as to be able to define the innovative sound which was played during their unforgettable parties.BLUECHEESE, via di Monte Testaccio, Roma.

First informal presentation of THE SHOCKART MOVEMENT; a selection of 16 operas is showed at the public for the first time on april 1999.
